How can we improve OneTeam for iOS?

OTR support!

OTR would be great to have. I work with many journalists who work in heavily censored areas around the world; to be able to communicate on iOS completely secure would be a life-saver

OTR support is confronted to the very strict encryption and export laws in the USA, and the AppStore. So it is very hard for us to support it.

OTR would be a great addition to this app, so great I would buy it if available :) Also, please note that export is not a problem in the Apple store. Yes, there already is an XMPP client with OTR support available, ChatSecure :

        http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chatsecure/id464200063?mt=8

Encrypted, Secure Multiprotocol Chat and Instant Messaging (Google Talk, XMPP, AIM)

And it is free and open source. Of course, it doesn't have all the functionalities and the stability of OneTeam, but it does exist and is is available in the App store.

Please add OTR or a PGP/GnuPG extension !

Another vote for OTR here! Hear!!

Interntional journalism is not the only defensible use case for OTR integration! And even if the existing US crypto export restrictions are to be a fundmental consideration herein, legitimate domestic applications still abound in both corporate and consumer realms [especially these days]. I'd have a hard time believing that demand within the American market alone could not drive sufficient interest and profitability to justilfy development.

I personally know more than a handful of people on the look out for just such a messaging app with OTR integration. AS it happens, I found one just last night called SecureChat, which is an offshoot project from a few original OTR developers. While it works well enough and the price is certainly right [free], the app is limited to Gmail and AOL accounts logins. And Process-One's stand-out IM capablities are the exact piece of the puzzle missing therein!

There is nothing else out there serving the niche. Im my mind, its a no brainer, but neither am I fluent in the full scope of issues that might prohibit PO from steping up to fill a need in the market.

...as for the AppStore's potential obstacles in distribution? Apple has already accounted for and built out solutions in regards to a variety of geographic liscensing restrictions, so I doubt exportation would be much of an impediment.

Im a bit puzzled. Im sure that most password repository apps must use strong crypto on their keyrings. Or all all password apps in the AppStore simply saving their keys in plaintext? How do these apps get their crypto usage approved if there are tight restrictions?

I agree with all others and I really like the idea to have OTR for one-to-one chat! There are no such apps that implemented it yet and oneteam with it would be fantastic!

The US laws on export of cryptography have been greatly relaxed in recent years, so this shouldn't present a major issue. There are also plenty of other apps in the AppStore including very similar technologies (PGP etc.) without issue. OTR support would be a *seriously* useful feature and it would be a shame to write it off without investigating fully the potential issues first. Is there any plan to investigate such issues or should we take this as a "no" to OTR?
